Being a Pacific Northwesterner, I have had a long-time connection with Hawaii. Hawaii is the siren call in the back of my mind, the five hour journey that is possible, when desperate, even for the weekend. This cookbook is a fun celebration of the island. It's island cooking: teriyaki, steamed fish, BBQ, Haupia, Mango Pie, Banana and Bacon Salad, Taro Cakes. But there's enough vacation flair for Mai Tai Pie and over 40 pages for drinks and appetizers. This is a nice escape read for a rainy weekend. If you miss Hawaii or want to go (who wouldn't???), try this one out.
